As a young boy, Steve began to make paint copies of Van Gogh paintings and drawings of Greek sculpture. He knew at an early age he wanted to be an artist. It has always been a calling instead of an avocation.
Steve received a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in Painting from Louisiana State Unitversity. His early professional sculpting career evolved by foundry, enlagrgement work. He also sculpted anatomical structures of Whitetailed Deer and Exotic Animals for the taxidermy industry. Years of intense study of anatomy and a rigorus sculpting schedule of 8 plus hours a day honed Gibson's skills of observation and the practical construction of sculplture.
"I believe the purpose of art is the free us from anxiety. It is our true nature to love beauty. It was the love beauty that pulled Europe out of the Dark Ages. Even Barbarians liked to adorn themselves with beautiful jewlery and colorful ships".
